How temporary buffering of moisture in refrigeration units of large retail chains has demonstrably led to more turnover and fewer operational malfunctions – a simple retrofit makes it possible:
CNT Technology GmbH was pleased to conclude several projects in recent weeks in which molecular filters were used in refrigeration units of large retail chains over a longer period of time under permanent control measurements.
The results are groundbreaking. In all projects, the accompanying control measurements were able to prove that after the installation of the filters, the air humidity in the interior of the refrigeration units was significantly reduced and also kept constantly lower.
This is the basis for all subsequent effects with a far-reaching impact:
The dew point drops, icing on the evaporator is less, defrosting is much faster and the entire cooling system works much more efficiently as a result.
Similar to a pressure equalization vessel in heating circuits, the filter stores the humidity temporarily and then slowly releases it again. The water remains in molecular form and is not liquefied.
The subsequent condensation is significantly lower due to the slow release of the water molecules and the filter is ready to absorb new H2O molecules.
The tests and use were particularly convincing during the summer months of this year:
- There were no failures due to excessive ice formation on the evaporator.
- This significantly reduced the service costs that occurred in previous years due to unplanned maintenance during the summer months.
Furthermore, all units with molecular filters ran much more efficiently, as the set target temperatures were reached more quickly after the compressors started.
This also saves energy and ensures greater sustainability. The energy requirement for defrosting could also be reduced, as the ice layer to be defrosted is significantly thinner.
Two findings can be derived from this:

New cooling systems, which already work in a very environmentally friendly and energy-optimized manner through the use of the latest technology, become even more efficient through the use of the filter and the cooling system is thus more sustainable.

Existing cooling systems become much more economical and less prone to faults by retrofitting molecular filters, as unscheduled maintenance has been avoided. Furthermore, older systems can also be operated much more efficiently and thus more cheaply. This extends the service life and reduces the risk of failure.
Since the measured effects and results depend to a large extent on many dynamic factors, let us talk about what our filters can also achieve for you.
